Letter, 1801 May 3, Washington, [D.C.], to James Magoffin, n.p.

Apologizes for the tardiness of his reply; Jefferson has been at Monticello since March 23, and only recently returned to find his letter; thanks him for the book he sent him; it was in a much better condition than any other copy; the author made no revisions; should the author wish to make revisions, he is sure that they will all be approved.
